Threats against Field Marshal Munir

Pakistan has issued a demarche to the UK over threats made against Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. The protest occurred outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, and demonstrators reportedly used highly provocative language. Authorities said the threats included a possible car bomb attack targeting the Field Marshal. Pakistan demanded that the UK ensure its territory is not used to destabilize the country. The Foreign Office emphasized the seriousness of the matter and called for accountability.

The British High Commission responded by asking Pakistan to provide evidence of the threats. Officials highlighted that UK police and prosecution operate independently of the government. They added that any suspected crime on British soil must be reported to the police liaison. The material would then be examined under British law. Criminal investigations could follow if illegal activity is confirmed.

Sources said a Pakistani political party’s UK social media account helped mobilize demonstrators. The protest raised concerns over inciteful content circulating online. Pakistan urged strict action against those responsible. The government stressed that miscreant elements must face legal consequences. Authorities warned that such behavior threatens bilateral relations and public safety.

State Minister for Interior Tallal Chaudhry confirmed that the government wrote to the UK regarding provocative statements. He described the content as “inciteful” and linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The ministry called on the UK to investigate and hold accountable anyone spreading threats. Officials emphasized the need for cooperation between Pakistan and UK law enforcement. Pakistan expects prompt action to prevent future incidents.

Diplomatic tensions have risen following the protest, but officials hope dialogue can resolve the issue. Pakistan stressed that all legal processes must be respected. The UK’s independent investigation ensures fairness and transparency. Both sides are monitoring the situation closely. Authorities warned that unresolved threats could damage diplomatic and security cooperation.

The Ministry of Interior has started the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, addressing the party’s actions and the subsequent response. According to the statement, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on November 21 directed the federal government to take necessary measures to maintain law and order in the capital. The IHC specifically instructed the interior minister to engage with PTI leadership to ensure the protest proceeded peacefully.

Despite requests from the government to postpone the protest, particularly due to the sensitivity of visits by the Belarusian president and a Chinese high-level delegation, PTI insisted on proceeding. In response, the government offered PTI the Sangjani area as a designated protest location. However, despite these extraordinary concessions, PTI failed to comply with court orders and instead unlawfully breached entry into Islamabad’s Red Zone.
